Jennifer Lynn Scrivener Simpson passed away Sunday, January 28, 2018 at the age of 61 following a long battle with cancer.
Jennifer was perhaps happiest when she was singing to glorify God. We were blessed by her beautiful voice in both her gospel band and her church choir through the years. Her family looks forward to hearing her sweet voice again in Heaven’s choir one day.
Jennifer is preceded in death by her parents, Woodrow Wilson Scrivener, Sr. and Dorothy Keith Scrivener; and her brother, Woodrow Wilson Scrivener, Jr. She is survived by her husband, Lloyd Y. Simpson; two children, Christopher Keith Haynes and Jessica Danielle Haynes; granddaughter, Kali Lynn Haynes; three sisters, Judy Hammett (Ken), Jamie Davis (Clayton), and Joy Prescott; longtime devoted friends Mike and Linda Bell; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 1, 2018 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and funeral services will be on Friday, February 2, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home in Mobile, AL. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
I remember the day she was born. Mama always said :Judy now has her baby". I took her everywhere with me. She was my little sister but to me she was "my" baby. Every once in a while I wold let mama hold her and feed her. Lynn was a loving, generous, caring and giving person. I don't ever remember her saying an unkind word about anyone. She would always remember the good and forget the bad. She had a voice everyone would wish for. I can hear he singing as I write this. :Amazing Grace".....Lynn, we will always miss you and love you more than you will ever know. Family gatherings will never be the same without you but you will be there in spirit. And I promise to eat a big piece of Carol's special pie for you. Until we meet again, my dear sweet, precious sister, I will always love you and hold you in my heart.

I wish the outcome had been different. I wish the miracle had been yours. But it was not to be. I pray you rest well, out of pain and happy at last. You were loved! And you will be missed. Love, Jamie

My sympathy to the family. The Bible says that the dead are in the grave, awaiting the resurrection. Jesus likened death to a deep sleep. Soon, God will do away with death forever! How wonderful is that?
