Walter Eugene Richardson, age 83, a native of Coden and resident of Irvington, Al, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 25, 2018 to be with the Lord. He was born on May 4, 1934 as the oldest of nine children. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene S. and Martha M. Hebert Richardson, his loving and devoted wife Janet Gray Richardson, sisters Mable Joullian, and Linda Darden, and brother-in-law George Gazzier, Jr. Mr. Richardson attended St. Margaret School, Bayou La Batre, and Little Flower School, Mobile. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War and was honorably discharged. He was employed by Ingall's Shipyard for many years as Ship's Foreman and retired. He was a devoted and loving husband and father who placed his family at the center of his free time. His love for the sea, the enjoyment of harvesting seafood and preparing it for family gatherings were his passions. Mr. Richardson is survived by daughter Cynthia Raley of Irvington, AL, grandson Jesse Raley III (Anna), great-grandsons Harmon Walter Raley and Charles Allen Raley, brothers Francis P. Richardson (Mary), Slidell, LA, Glenn J. Richardson (Judy), Breaux Bridge, LA, Bruce W. Richardson, DeRidder, LA, sisters, Irene Gazzier, Bayou La Batre, AL, Wilhelmina Todd (Paul), Fairhope, AL, Mary Stickney, Summerville, SC, and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
