Robert Anthony Vogtner, a native and lifelong resident of Mobile, AL, died Thursday, April 12, 2018 at the age of 79. He was a US Air Force Veteran and a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church. He was a graduate of the first engineering class at the University of South Alabama with a Civil Engineering Degree. He was head of the Engineering Department of the City of Mobile for the last 15 years of his 45 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis A. Vogtner and Alice Elizabeth Quigley Vogtner; two sisters, Alice and Marie; and three brothers, Francis, Thomas and James. His survivors include his wife of 47 years, Minnie Byrd Vogtner; his daughter, Kimberly Vogtner (Chris) Creel; one granddaughter, Callie Ada Creel; his sister, Jane Vogtner (Guy) Gunthorpe; other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, April 16, 2018 at 12:00 Noon from St. Matthews Catholic Church. The family will receive friends at the church Monday morning from 10:30 AM until service time. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
