James Autrey Palmore of Theodore, Alabama passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2020, at the age of 86. James was born in Covington County, Alabama on January 18, 1934, to father, Wilmer Gray Palmore and mother, Mattie Lou Palmore. He served in the United States Army from July 1953 to July 1956.
James, known to his friends as Jim, served as Worshipful Master of the Howard E. Palmes Lodge in Mobile, Alabama from June 1978 to Jun 1979. He was also a Shriner, serving on the Mounted Patrol. James carried a positive outlook throughout life, no matter the circumstances. He enjoyed grilling food for friends, playing golf, and watching sports. He was a life-long fan of the Atlanta Braves.
James was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Christine Blair Palmore, his parents, and his brothers, Arlie Allen Palmore, Marion Avonda Palmore, and Aubrey Ray Palmore. He is survived by his brother, Adrian Gray Palmore; children, James Bernard Palmore, Cynthia Dianne Jordan, and Gregory Stephen Palmore; grandchildren, Gregory Stephen Palmore Jr., Micheal Alexander Palmore, Audrey Rose Palmore, Ashley Tatum Palmore, and David Austin Palmore; great grandchild, Cason Stephen Palmore.
A visitation for James is planned for Wednesday, June 10, 2020, from 9 am to 10 am. The visitation will be at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home at 6040 Three Notch Road, Mobile, Alabama. All are invited to attend. The funeral will follow immediately at 10 am.
