Larry Lancing Hayes, age 65, of Grand Bay, passed away on Monday, July 6, 2020, at Mobile Infirmary. Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.
Larry was the owner and operator of Hayes Septic Tank Service in Grand Bay, a business that his father started in 1965. He was good at his job and had “the velvet touch” when it came to operating a backhoe. It was often said that Timmy was the fastest, Larry was the smoothest, but Fletcher was the best!
Larry was known as a man of few words, however, when he spoke, people listened. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved going to his hunting camp with his wife. Larry was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed fishing.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sheila Demouey Hayes; mother, Margene Hayes; brothers, Timmy Hayes and Sammy Hayes; sisters, Cynthia Gates and Tammy Hayes; and grandson, Briar Hayes.
Survivors include his sons, Shane Hayes (Jennifer), Jeremy Hayes, and Derek Hayes (Britanie); step-children, Darla Dean (Christopher), Roland Ellis (Candace), and Josh Ellis (Shanna); father, Fletcher Hayes (Leah); sister, Mavis Hayes; grandchildren, Christian Hayes, Tanner Hayes, Taylor Hayes, Wyatt Hayes, Brandon Hayes, Lane Hayes, Claira Hayes, Evrett Hayes, Dustin Roberson, Ethan Roberson, and Lauren Miles; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 11, 2020, at 12:00 p.m. at Lighthouse of Hope Holiness Church, 11501 Argyle Road, Irvington, Alabama. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the service at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Burial will follow at W.R. Clark Memorial Cemetery on Fort Lakes Road in Moss Point, Mississippi.
