Aaron Ely Iii

Aaron Richard Ely III, age 48, better known as “Rick”, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021, at home after a courageous fight with lung cancer. Rick was a devoted and loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend to many. Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Rick was an avid fisherman and hunter, he loved being on the water. The last chapter of his life was the best. He became a very successful businessman who loved to not only take care of business, but when he saw a need, tried to fulfill it.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Aaron Richard Ely I (Myrna), Helen Gibson Ely (Joseph), and Walter Smith (Ida). He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 13 years, Jocelyn Hughes Ely; children, Aaron Richard Ely IV, Madelaine Penelope “Maddie” McGallagher, and Blake Christian Bowman (Timaleigh); his parents, Aaron Richard Ely II (Vertice) and Connie Ely Turpin; siblings, Adrienne Rebecca Pyle (Jerry), William Maxwell Ely, Tabatha Grace Bradley (Garrett), Monica Ely, Kelley Turpin Prine, Reinah Charlene Hanson (Brady), Meredith Lane Turpin, Oliver Turpin (Cindy) and Dawn Hearn; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.

A special thank you to the close friends which were a tremendous help and blessing during the final days of his life: Mickie Tanner, Kevin Connick, Cale McEvoy, Matt Roberts, and T J McCloskey.

The family would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Kindred Hospice Care for their wonderful care of Rick. The special people who were here to help were Marilyn, Devin, Carly, Meagan, Sylvia, Morgan, Kristina and Tiffany, Angels of Hope.

The family will receive friends at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Saturday, January 23, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. with a service celebrating Rick’s life following in the chapel at 3:00 p.m.
