Abner Clark Jones, III, husband of the late Joan Marie Jones went peacefully to be with our Lord on January 11, 2018 at the age of 76. Clark is survived by his two siblings: Robert Earl Jones of Sykesville, Maryland and Sarah Anne Smallwood of Houston, Texas; his daughters: Debbie Jones Pilot, Donna Jones Glaze, Diana Jones Johnson all of Mobile, his six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and his loving companion Katherine Louise Scott. Clark is pre-deceased by his wife Joan Marie Jones and his brother William Carrol Jones. Clark was born in Mobile, Alabama on May 21, 1941 to Lessie Williamson Jones and Abner Clark Jones, Jr. Clark attended Vigor High School before serving his country on the USS Saratoga. Clark and Joan were married for 32 wonderful years before Joan lost her battle with cancer in 1992. Together they had three daughters: Debra Jones Pilot, Donna Jones Glaze, and Diana Jones Johnson who were their pride and joy. After decades of hard work, Clark retired from the chemical shipping industry in 2000. Clark was a loyal member of Lumsden's Battery Reenactment Group and a passionate enthusiast for Civil War history and weaponry. Fishing the waters of Jones' Junction at Camp Grace was a favorite pastime. Furthermore, Clark had a deep appreciation for other cultures and enjoyed travelling the world and collecting special memorabilia to document his journeys. His infectious smile and quick wit will be missed and remembered by his friends and family. The funeral service will be held on Monday January 15, 2018 at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Visitation hours will be held from 12:00PM-2:00PM. Service at 2:00PM with graveside service to follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens. Donations in Clark's memory can be made to Camp Grace.
