Alexis Cecilia Downey, a lifelong resident of Mobile, AL, died Sunday, February 14, 2016 at the age of 67. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alex Gray Downey, Sr. and Alice Mae Hamilton Downey; her sister, Wilda Downey Dedrick and brother-in-law, Don Dedrick Sr. Her survivors include her sisters, Alice M. Downey and Tammy Downey (Randy) Rogers; her brother, Alex Gray (Pam) Downey, Jr.; nephews, David (Brittney) Rogers, Colby Downey Rogers and his fiancée, Meredith C. Nelson, and Don Dedrick Jr.; nieces, Gwen (Scott) McCoy, Amy Peterson, Aili Downey and Alexis Downey; six great-nephews; two great-nieces; other relatives and friends; and her beloved canine companion, Taco. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations in Miss Downey's name be made to Covenant Hospice, 3103 Airport Boulevard, Suite 410, Mobile, AL 36606 or the Mobile SPCA, 20 Ziegler Circle W., Mobile, AL 36608. The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 16, 2016 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 Noon at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.
