Alfred Griffin

Alfred Hampton Griffin, Jr., was born on May 25, 1931 in Mobile, AL. A
lifelong resident of Mobile, Hamp passed away on Thursday,
December 22, 2022 at the age of 91 years old. He was preceded in
death by his parents, Hamp and Cleo Griffin; sister Gloria Whigham
and half-sister, Evelyn Duke. He is survived by his son, Alfred (Buzz)
Griffin III; daughter, Victoria Mosteller and husband Kelly Mosteller;
stepson James Davidson; niece, Jamie Lloyd; 2 granddaughters,
Julianna Mosteller and Alexandra Mosteller; grandson, Noah Griffin;
close friends, Andy, Peggy, Billy, Rebecca, and Price; other relatives,
and friends.
Hamp was a longtime member of St. John's Episcopal Church. He was a
boxer, served in the Marine Corps., and worked at the Mobile Press
Register for 52 years, most of the time as a stereo typesetter. He
enjoyed golf, painting, ballroom dancing, and was a fan of Alabama
football.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 30, 2022 from 9-10 AM at
Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, followed by service at 10
AM. Interment will be held at Alabama State Veterans Memorial
Cemetery at 1:30 PM.
