Allen Oopie Francis Cowart, Sr., a lifelong resident of Mobile, AL, died Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at the age of 82. He was a paint contractor in the Mobile area for over 40 years. He loved gospel music and enjoyed playing his guitar and harmonica in church and for family and friends. Mr. Cowart was preceded in death by his parents, Leora Cowart and Alice Frances George Cowart his sister, Clora Cowart Strickland and her brother, L.W. Cowart. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty Jean Dixon Cowart his daughter, Michele Cowart his sons, Allen Al Francis Kay Cowart, Jr. and Randall Randy Lee Diane Cowart a sister, Mildred Cowart Dykes four grandchildren, Joshua Murdock Leah Cowart, Brandon Allen Cowart, Charissa D. Kevin Carnall and Heather D. Jake Lewis six greatgrandchildren, Tara Cowart, Eli Cowart, Avery Lewis, Madeline Cowart, Annaliese Lewis and Dessie Cowart, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Sunday evening, October 12, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 13, 2014 at 12:00 Noon from the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Spring Hill Memorial Gardens.
