Anne Shepherd

Long-time Mobile resident Anne Whaley Shepherd died Thursday December 21, 2017 at Providence Hospital. She was preceded in death by her father L.E. Whaley, mother Elizabeth Whaley McGarity, step-father John Wilson McGarity, husband Thomas Griffin Shepherd, sister Mary Jean Whaley Holland and son-in-law T. Weston Stewart. She is survived by her brother Alex Whaley (Jane), her daughters Lynn Shepherd Stewart, Diane Shepherd Wright (Randy), Kimberly Shepherd Nelson (Richard), grandchildren Thomas Weston Stewart (Brittney), Alison Stewart Stricklin, Richard Blakely Nelson (Kellen), Nicholas Austin Wright, Emily Wright Kicker (Ethan), Anna Marie Nelson and great grand children Caleb Alexander Stewart, Amelia Ann Stricklin, Ella Langley Stewart, Cooper McGowan Stewart and dozens of nieces, nephews, and friends. Born on July 31, 1932, Anne married Thomas Griffin Shepherd on August 29, 1954 and were married until his death in November of 2001. Anne loved her family so dearly. She adored time spent with them, getting pictures of her grandchildren and great grand children, trips with her girls, and loved hosting everyone in her home- no matter what the occasion. She will be missed dearly by all who know and love her. There will be a visitation at Mobile Memorial Gardens on December 23, 2017 from 1:00-2:30.
