Apolonus T. Visser, age 84 of Mobile, Alabama USA passed from this life to be with his Lord on August 31, 2015 at 6:30 AM, after a brief struggle with bladder cancer.
Born August 30, 1931 in Wekerndam, Netherlands. While serving in the Dutch Air Force he met his future bride who worked in the hospital next door to the base. He married L. A. Ida Sanders July 30, 1956 in Den Haag, Netherlands. His sense of adventure started early after they were married. After the birth of the first son Ronald, they immigrated to Montreal, Canada in May 1959. Two more sons Michael and Douglas John were born in Canada and then they immigrated to Detroit, Michigan USA in 1968.
Apolonus T. Visser was an International Banker with the Bank of Montreal and Detroit Bank & Trust.
He continued his career as a Comptroller with Ram Products in Sturgis, Michigan and Bunker Plastics in Dallas, Texas. After his working career he retired to Mobile, Alabama in 1993. Among his many accomplishments, he spoke four different languages, loved to travel, camp, and swim. When he retired he enjoyed being a tax volunteer for the elderly. For the past 14 months he spent everyday beside his wife who resides in a nearby nursing home.
Apolonus T. Visser is survived by his wife L.A. Ida Visser, sons Ronald (Brenda) Visser, Michael (Sherry) Visser & Douglas John (Jane) Visser. Five grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Three sisters and two brothers.
Services will be held for family and close friends at Mobile Memorial Gardens. Visitation 1:30 PM, Service 2:00 PM
