Arden Matthews

Arden Drake Matthews, born on September 19, 1951 in Tulsa, Oklahoma and passed away on July 26, 2016 in a motorcycle accident. He was active in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Order of the Arrow. He received achievements for Eagle Scout. Graduated from Shaw High School from the first graduating class. Owned and operated Arden's Gardens a skilled landscaping company for years. He attended the University of South Alabama. Mr. Matthews was an avid bowler at Camellia Lanes for over 45 years. He acted in and set up for dramas for churches in the Mobile area. He was an active member of Life Church. Arden enjoyed collecting old Mobile artifacts. He was born to Eileen V. Matthews (Cogar) and Charles K. Matthews (both deceased). He is survived by a sister, Wanda M. Stinson (Arthur) of Mobile; brother, Ronald D. Matthews (Carolina) of Theodore; nieces, Rev. Donna Lee Laity (Chris) of Helena, MT, Cynthia Ray Berberich (Scott) of Saraland, Jason C. Matthews of Theodore, Jessica Diane Matthews of Theodore, Olivia Audrey Berberich and Tiffany Ray Berberich of Saraland; nephews, William Alex Matthews, Cole Matthews Swade Matthews and Hobbie Matthews; cousin, Adola Sue Miller of Charleston West Virginia and other cousins and relatives. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 5, 2016 at 2 pm from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Friday 12 noon until service time at the funeral home.
