Arthur Gunthorpe Jr.

Arthur John Gunthorpe, Jr of Semmes, Al died on September 10, 2014 at age 71. Arthur Jack was born in Mobile, Al on October 16, 1942. He graduated from Murphy High School. After high school, he joined the United States Army, where he served for 6 years. He then began his career in the grocery store industry at Delchamps in Mobile. He then went on to work for Barbers Dairy where he retired. Jack was a charter member of the Conde Cavaliers Mardi Gras organization. He served in many capacities over his 20 year tenure with the Condes. Jack never met a stranger and loved meeting new people and was always prepared to lend a hand. He will be missed by all who knew him. Jack is preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Maude Gunthorpe, Sr. and his father and mother in law William and Noami Wright. He is survived by his wife, Helen Jane Gunthorpe, children Rachel Boyington Craig, Helena Tawzer Brian, grandchildren Kayla, Preston, Cooper and Cameron and brothers and sisters Mary Kenny Charlie, Pat Bouchard Joe, Donald Gunthorpe Alice, Paul Gunthorpe Judy. His passing is mourned by his family, friends, his brothers of the Conde Cavaliers Society and anyone who knew him. Visitation will be held Monday, September 15, 2014 from 4:30 p.m.6:00 p.m. followed by a service in the chapel at Mobile Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Mulherin Custodial Home, 2496 Halls Mill Rd. Mobile, Al 36606.
