Arva South

Arva Jo Miller South, born December 1, 1936 in Mobile, AL to Carlos Daniel Miller and Rubye Inez Perdue Miller, died January 19, 2018. Arva Jo is survived by her sister Johnnie Ann Miller Smith of Pensacola, FL., along with a multitude of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She spent the better part of her 81 years being mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to her brood. Married 62 years to her teen-age sweetheart, Dr. Donald R. South, they raised four children, Donna South Meyers, Daryl South, Barry South, and Ramona South Capley, who collectively bore them ten grandchildren, and they in turn gave them four great-grandchildren. Arva Jo and Donald South began their marriage in Mobile, AL in 1956 and lived in various university towns and states until returning to Mobile in 1978 when Don took a position at the University of South Alabama until his retirement in 1999. She is survived by her sister, Johnnie Ann Miller Smith; spouse, Donald Ray South; children, Donna South Meyers (Holton), Daryl Miller South (Nancy), Barry Glen South (Christine) and Ramona South Capley (Keith); Grandchildren: Jessica Meyers Beaudry (Mason), Jared Daniel Meyers, Rachael South Bogema (Riley), Kathryn Claire South, Donald Larkin South (Kathrine), Brittany South Crawford (Timothy), Kenneth Bradford South (Alicia), Jonathan Andrew South, Erin Nicole Capley, Albert Daniel Capley; Great Grandchildren: Launa Faye Beaudry, Zoe Jean Bogema, Zuri Rose Beaudry, Max Miller Bogema. Funeral services will be held from Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at 10:00 AM. Visitation will be Monday evening from 5:00 till 8:00 PM.
