Ava Nell Thompson Smith, a native of Carmichael, MS and longtime resident of Irvington, AL, died Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at the age of 91. She was a faithful member of Oak Park Church of God since 1993 where she served in numerous capacities including Senior Adult Choir Ministry, Ladies' Ministries, Nursing Home Ministry the visitation in homes, hospitals and nursing homes for over 30 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert McCall Thompson and Onie Esta Broadway Thompson; her husband of 58 years, Charles Smith; three sisters and three brothers. Her survivors include her son, Charles Michael (Lilibeth) Smith; her daughter, Ava June Smith; her brother, Elba Thompson; one grandson, Michael Garreth Smith; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 12:00 Noon from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Saturday at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until service time. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
