Bertram "Bert" George Sells, 82, of Irvington, AL, passed away Friday, January 18, 2019 after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born November 10, 1936 in Mobile, AL and has been a longtime resident of Irvington, AL. He was preceded in death by his parents, R. H. and Lily Sells, and a brother, Ray H. Sells, Jr. His survivors include his wife, Jean; daughter, Allison; step-children, Brian and Gina; grandchildren, Morgan, Alissa, Gracie, Alexa and Maryelise; many other family members and friends. Bert graduated from Murphy High School in 1953 and received his degree in Accounting from the University of Alabama. He was a devoted member and choir director of St. Mary's by the Sea Episcopal Church; a member of Alabama Accounting Association; a longtime member of the Mobile Opera Guild and the Mobile Lyons Club. Funeral services, officiated by The Reverend Sara Dulaney Phillips, Vicar, will be held Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at 12:30 PM from St. Mary's by the Sea Episcopal Church. The family will receive friends at the church Wednesday morning from 10:30 AM until service time. Interment will follow in Pine Crest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations in Bert's name be made to St. Mary's by the Sea Episcopal Church, 4875 Hwy 188, Coden, AL 36523.
