Betty Sue Ray Bailey
"The Little Red Fox."
Betty Sue Ray Bailey has gone to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
She walked into Glory on January 3, 2022, peacefully with her daughter Kelly and her very devoted son-in- law Dennis Phillips at their home in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
She passed into eternity while holding Dennis's hand as he was playing Bill Gaither praise and worship songs. ("Then Came The Morning" by Guy Penrod.)
Born on January 17th, 1935, to Horacio Jehue Ray and Ruby Finch Ray of Plateau, Alabama. Her travels took her from Plateau (Chin Street) where she graduated from Vigor High School. Her life travels took her from Alabama to Texas, Goose Bay Labrador, Canada, and then back to Georgia, Delaware, and Wyoming. She spent many happy and peaceful years in Stockton, Alabama and was a member of Stockton Baptist Church. Betty Sue loved her family at Stockton Baptist and cherished her many lifelong friends from that community. Her past twelve years was spent in devotion to her friends and community at Club Continental in Bay Minette, Alabama. Where she cooked and catered to her neighbors.
Betty was a woman of many talents. She was a dental hygienist, a licensed insurance agent, managed convenience, and retail stores, was a licensed real estate agent, and owned a children's day care center while living in Wyoming. Betty ran her own fruit and vegetable truck that took her from Mobile to Gulf Port, Mississippi on weekends. She enjoyed many fun times of chatting on the CB in her travels, she was known as the "Little Red Fox."
Betty liked to stay productive and enjoyed working and meeting new people.
She enjoyed a good challenge. Betty just Loved Life!
Most importantly, she was by her late husband's side (Charles Bailey) in the running of his plumbing company. But her real passion was food. She managed a Supper Club, numerous restaurants, and owned a catering company, where she catered for the Pabst Blue Ribbon Company. She had a true servant's heart, which shown thru in the preparation of food for the needy as an active member of Stockton Baptist Church.
Betty served on the auxiliary board of volunteers at North Baldwin Hospital for several years.
When one of her sons, Rocky, was injured, she, with family members helped, and cared for Rocky the next 26 years of his life. As the mother of eight children, and an army of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; she instilled love, excellence, and a very strong work ethic.
"Her children arise and call her blessed..." Prov 31:28
Betty always found it a true blessing to be able to serve her family and friends.
She was talented in creating wedding cakes, oil paintings and flower arrangements. All her works of art displayed a Christian symbol of the "cross" within the painting itself.
She wanted to emphasize the importance of her Savior Jesus Christ!
Betty created three oil paintings the last week of her life.
She was very determined to Live and Love Big!
We will look at her pictures
and sweet memories we will recall,
of a face full of sunshine,
and a smile for one and all.
She leaves a hole in the hearts of her family and friends who were always entertained by her stories. She brought the life to the party and taught that you say "please and Thank You" because politeness is the best way.
Betty's favorite Words, were
"I love You."
Betty is now at peace with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Betty looked forward to joining her loved ones in heaven, her husband, Charles Bailey, sister Edna McNeely as well as her late sons Steve Bailey, Rocky Adams, and Richard Bailey.
She is survived by her sister Janie Fredrickson, her daughters Kathy (Robert) Cross and Kelly Adams-Phillips (Dennis) and her sons Mark Bailey (Belinda) , Michael Scott Adams (Mary) , and Ken Bailey. Many, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, friends, it would take all day to name them all.
Special appreciation to her lifelong deacon David Neutze for his unconditional love and devotion to Betty and the Bailey family. David's lifelong devotion has been a true blessing.
"Be still and know...". Psalm 46:10
