Betty moved to Mobile as a child. As a young adult she met her beloved husband, George. They were married for 69 years. She graduated from Murphy High School in 1952 and remained close to many classmates. While at Murphy, she was a majorette and marched in numerous parades in downtown Mobile. She worked as a night bookkeeper for many years at Merchants National Bank (Regions) and was also an avid bridge player and amazing cook. She was a wonderful wife and loving mother. She was proceeded in death by her parents Ola Leigh Rogers Williamson and Daniel Mobley Williamson, and siblings Grace Vickery, James Williamson, Billy Williamson, Dannie Williamson, Robert Williamson. She is survived by her devoted husband George Stauter; children Gwen Stauter Sparks (Harry), Greg Stauter (Angela), Dr. Kelly Stauter; grandchildren Jason Pond (Talia), Brantley Pond Harrison (T), Gordon Sparks, Joseph Stauter; great grandchildren Thomas Harrison, Mary Frances Harrison, Caroline Pond, Anna Pond. Adored by step grandchildren Louise Sparks Ritter (Michael), Lauren Sparks Osborne (James) and their children. Sister in laws Melda Dorgan, Verna Jean McClam, Madeline Melton Diamond, Marian Fultz. Many nieces and nephews. A heartfelt thanks and gratitude to her caregivers and Southern Care Hospice: Monica Thomas, Patricia Brown, Ammie Thompson, Mary Ekans, Oneara Thomas, Kayleigh Jackson.
Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be 1:00 PM until service time on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 from the the funeral home. Interment will be at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
