Betty was born on May 24, 1932 the fifth of ten children. Some of her fondest and longest held memories were of growing up on a farm in Jackson, Alabama. Challenging times, but never a shortage of love. After graduation from Jackson High School, she worked at Vanity Fair and lived in a boarding house where she met the love of her life, Peter Willemoes III. The owner told her that she knew Pete was a good man because he wrote his Mother every week. She agreed. They married on April 7, 1956 and made a good life in Mobile.
Betty and Pete passed many a happy day or night at Municipal Park cheering on youth sports teams. She volunteered as a first aid worker at Orchard and Scarbrough schools. She was a longtime member of Overlook Presbyterian Church. In later life when she remembered a good dream it was most often of the women in her Church Circle.
The family would like to thank Dr. Thomas McGee, Covenant Hospice, Touching Hearts, Visiting Angels and their excellent staff for exemplary care. Private aides Ashley and Renee. Also life long friends Jerry, Dimples, Sissy, Donald, Michael, and Mr. Hendrix. Thank you all for your support.
