On Thursday, March 11, 2021, Billy George Cruitt, loving husband and father, passed away at the age of 86 at his home in Daphne, AL surrounded by his family.
Billy George was born on July 5, 1934 in McCullough, AL. After growing up in Bay Minette, he moved to Atmore where he met and married his High School sweetheart and love of his life JoAnn Freeman in 1955 being married 65 years. The couple lived and raised their daughter in Mobile, AL moving to Daphne, AL after retirement. Billy George joined the Air Force Civil Service at Brookley Field almost directly out of High School and was later transferred to Keesler Air Force Base. He became an Electronics Engineer, installing Aviation Air Control Systems working in every state in America and around the world for over 50 years. So accomplished was he in his field he was hired by private industry (Raytheon and Parsons) to continue overseeing installation and training after retiring form the Government.
Though he had many accomplishments, what he cared about most was his family.
Billy George was preceded in death by father, Brooks F. Cruitt, his mother, Inez Regan Cruitt and his brother Benford. He is survived by his wife JoAnn, his only daughter Cindy Cruitt Kaiser (Herb), his grandson Kevin Cruitt Brown (Meghan), great-granddaughter Molly Brown, nephew Timothy Cruitt (Millie), and several close cousins. A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 15th, 2021 at Mobile Memorial Gardens (6100 Three Notch Rd. Mobile, AL) at 3:00 o'clock p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation and St. Jude Children's Hospital. Billy George battled Parkinson's disease and he contributed to St. Jude for many years.
