Mrs. Birdie Henderson Wood a native of Elmore County, Alabama and a longtime resident of Semmes, AL, went home to be with Jesus on Sunday. She was a homemaker, an employee of Dolly Madison, and an employee of Premier Medical. She is survived by her three children; Denise Wood (Larry) Sowell, Bennie Joe (Lori) Wood and Judy Wood (Jimmy) Bragg; one brother, Phillip Henderson; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years Bennie T. Wood, father John Hunter Henderson, mother, Dixie Lee Swindall Henderson, and sister Frances Juanita Henderson Tucker. Pallbearers included Michael Sowell, Caleb Bragg, Jeffrey Lasiter, Jake Curtis, Russ Francis, Jacob Pitts and Nathan Davis. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at 12 noon at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Visitation will start at 10 am. In lieu of flowers make donations to the Mission of Hope, 14970 Mission Rd., Mobile, AL 36608. Burial will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
