Bonnie Charlene (Cartee) Haire, 74-year-old Mobile, Alabama native, passed away May 1, 2024, at Emerald Memory Care Center in Claremore, Oklahoma. She was born April 8, 1950, in Aliceville, Alabama to Charlie Verdo and Olive Edell Cartee. Her “claim to fame” was that Dr. Pepper delivered her.
Bonnie grew up and attended school in Mobile, Alabama and was a 1968 graduate of W.P. Davidson High School. After high school, she attended the Mobile Business School where she gained various clerical and administrative skills. She worked primarily in the banking and healthcare industries.
Bonnie married George Best on June 7, 1969. This union brought two children, Misty, and Ryan. She later married William Joe Haire, Sr. on November 11, 1978. This union brought about a son, Andrew.
Bonnie enjoyed travelling and had the ability to see the world as a Marine wife. She loved music of all kinds but especially Oldies and 90’s Country. After retirement, she enjoyed coffee dates with her high school best friend, Ann, lunch dates with “the girls,” line dancing, Sunday afternoon visits with her family, and taking trips with Joe.
Bonnie loved deeply, had no problem showing it, and had the most beautiful and contagious smile. Most importantly, Bonnie had a deep and grounded faith in Jesus Christ. She was an active member of Cottage Hill Baptist Church and Luke 4:18 while living in Mobile. After her move to Oklahoma in 2017, being a loving mother, she attended the churches her son, Andrew, pastored. Her love for Jesus caused a desire to know Him and the Word more which she did through daily devotional study, Sunday School classes, and Bible Study Fellowship classes. She was also a prayer warrior and kept a running prayer list of people whom she would pray for daily, especially her family. She truly let her light shine for all to see.
Bonnie is survived by her children, Misty Buzbee (Greg) of Irvington, Alabama, Ryan Best (Shea) of Saraland, Alabama and Andrew Haire, Sr. (Ashley), of Vinita, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Angel Best, Kyle Buzbee (Hayden), Jordan Best (Amber), Carter Buzbee (Diana), Ashlynn Best, Caden Buzbee, Makenzie Haire, Andrew Haire, Jr. (AJ), Hannah Haire, Emalynn Haire, and Weston Haire; 4-great-grandchildren, Gentry, Blakely, Scarlett, Davis; mother, Edell Cartee; sisters, Sharon Douglas and Linda Snyder (Sid); brother, Randy Cartee; special “sister” Ann Jerkins (Rod); numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe; father, C.V. Cartee; brother, Mark Cartee; and nephews Blake Cartee and Christopher Douglas.
Bonnie was a true treasure! Her children rise up and call her blessed. She feared the Lord and is to be praised. She now has the share in the fruit of her hands.
