Brenda Pigg, age 80, of Mobile, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 6, 2021. Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.
Brenda was born June 19, 1940, in Georgiana, AL. She was the third of eight children born to Fred and Ottrie Morris. Brenda graduated from Georgiana High School where she loved to play basketball and hang out with friends. After moving to Mobile, she began a career that spanned over 40 years. She worked at A & P grocery store where she met her husband of 28 years, Rembert “Bob” Pigg with whom she had three children. In the years that followed, she continued her career as a bookkeeper at Food World, head cashier at USA’s bookstore, and eventually retiring from The University of South Alabama bursar’s office. A beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who loved entertaining, boating, vacationing, and fishing. Through her travels, she collected miniature souvenir bells from all across the United States. Her most recent pastimes included reading romance novels, watching Hallmark movies, and spoiling her grandchildren. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of everyone she loved.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Ottrie Morris, and brother, Bobby Ray Morris.
Survivors include her son, Dalton Pigg (Cindy); daughters, Dena Pigg (Keith Gates) and Donna Pigg; grandchildren, Brittany Pigg, Ross Pigg, Kamryn Pigg, Kristina Boykin, and Jacob Gates; siblings, Randy Morris (Sandy), Mickey Morris (Betty Sue), Paulette Harris (Frank), Joann Murray, Cheryl Sumner, and Larry Morris (Felisha); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Mickey Morris, Larry Morris, Michael Sensabaugh, Dalton Pigg, Keith Gates, Jerry Liggett, and Jamie Jones.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 9, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with Robert Gates of the Evangel Assembly of God-Bay Minette, officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to the USA Mitchell Cancer Institute.
