Buster B. Norfleet, 79, born in Belhaven, NC and a longtime resident of Theodore Al, died peacefully on Wednesday the 1st of July 2015. Mr. Norfleet is survived by his wife of 59 1/2 years, Mona, two sons: James (Lori) and Scott (Shannon), five grandchildren: Nicole, Bobbi, Angela, Scott, and Danielle, one great grandchild: Henzley, and is expecting another great grandchild in September. Surviving siblings are sisters Faye, Florine, Jean, and Neva, and brothers Alvin, Herman, and Thomas, and He was predeceased by a brother, Herbert.
A veteran of the United States Air Force who served his country with honor for over 20 years, he earned a Bronze Star Medal for service during combat in the Vietnam War as the Organizational Flight line Supervisor at U-Tapao Airfield Thailand, and 4 Commendation Medals over his career.
Mr. Norfleet Continued to work after retiring from the UnitedStates Air Force at Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula MS. While working at Ingalls, Mr. Norfleet enjoyed life on his small farm where he raised numerous cattle over the years. He enjoyed fishing his entire life and especially with his sons, family, and friends during this time. He also had found memories of hunting Pheasants in Kansas. He passed both of these passions on to his sons. Upon his retirement from Ingalls after 25 years, Mr. Norfleet kept busy being self-employed cutting grass in a housing development and working in the outdoors that he loved, where he was able to help family, neighbors, friends, and make many new friends that he spent countless hours talking to the phone just catching up.
Funeral Services will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Friday July the 3rd, 2015 at 10AM. Visitation will be Thursday the 2nd of July 2015 from 5 to 7 PM. Interment will be at Mobile Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be offered at www.mobilememorialfunerals.com.
