Steve Brewster, age 68, of Mobile, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 7, 2021, at his home. Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.
Steve graduated from Ben. C. Rain High School in 1970, before beginning his career on the water. He was a towboat captain for over 40 years, traveling many of the United States Inland Rivers and the Gulf Intercostal Waterway. Over his career, he also served as Port Captain and was a Master of Towing Vessels. Steve was active in several organizations including Board Member of the Warrior Tombigbee Waterway Association and Gulf Intercoastal Canal Association, where he served as Vice President for the State of Alabama for 10 years.
Steve was a very patient family man and treasured spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He will be missed deeply by all that knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Mary Emily Brewster and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ed and Catherine Adler.
Steve is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Adler Brewster; son, Jacob Brewster; daughter, Candace Botter and husband, Jasper; grandchildren, Cole Brewster, Kennedy Brewster, Ethan Brewster, Saylor Byrd, Chelsea Botter, and Gavin Botter; sister, Melinda Lyons; and a host of other family members and friends.
Memorial services will be held Monday, January 11, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. with Father Buddy Noel officiating from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.
