Carl Alvin Williams, Sr, age 88 of Huntsville, AL went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus
on Saturday, December 25, 2021. He was born November 20, 1933, in Burbank, AL to John
Sharp and Mary Idoma Williams.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, his special uncle and aunt, George and Ora Mae
Potter, and brother, Terrill Wayne Williams. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy Allen
Williams. He leaves behind one daughter Connie Lynn (Rick) Herald, two sons Carl, Jr (Susan)
and John (Laura), and his life-long friend and the best man at his wedding, Morris Northcutt, Sr
(Nita). He is also survived by five grandchildren: Dustin Williams; Randi Lynn (Neil) Sampson;
and Slade, Emmie, and Chance Williams, three great-grandchildren: Ashlyn Williams and Troy
and Talia Sampson, two brothers- and sisters-in-law, and numerous cousins, nieces, and
nephews.
Carl moved to Mobile, AL as a young child because of the Depression and WW2. He graduated
from Murphy High School, Class of 1951, and married his wife on January 15, 1954. He served
in the US Army and in the Alabama National Guard. Carl was a member of Yates Baptist
Church and a mason and member of the George U. Potter Masonic Lodge.
Carl devoted a lot of his time to the community by helping to build Boykin Park and coaching
sports teams there. When not at Boykin Park or raising his children, he was a Telephone
Pioneer and worked for the Bell System and AT&T for 37 years. Carl had a love for nature,
whether hunting, fishing, golfing, or just watching animals from his porch.
He will be beared to his final resting place by his nephews, Fred Allen, Jr, Keary Allen, Morris
Northcutt, Jr, Michael Allen, Randall Allen, Brad Williams, and Mark McCracken.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at 10:00 am from the chapel of the
Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 9:00 to 10:00 am. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
