Carole Claudia Knudsen, a native of Pocahontas, IA, and long-time resident of Mobile, died at home on Saturday March, 24, 2018 at the age of 84. Carole was born on June 7, 1933 to Claude and Minnie Camper. She graduated from Des Moines Township High School in May 1951 where she was captain of the basketball team and student body president. She later attended Tobins Business College in Fort Dodge, IA. On April 3, 1955, she was united in marriage to Paul Knudsen at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Rolfe, IA. They were married 43 years prior to her husband's death. For several years she was a homemaker and raised four daughters. After her daughters were in school she returned to work, working in the retail industry where she received many professional awards and recognition. Carole loved to travel, having traveled to 49 of the 50 states and many other countries. Her other interests included reading, sewing and watching and attending basketball and baseball games. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church for many years and later attended Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Carole is preceded in death by her husband, parents and sister. She is survived by her daughters Linda (Wayne) Johnson of Fairhope, AL, Christine (Randy) Raper of Mobile, AL, Paula (Rex) Chastain of Pass Christian, MS, and Sandra (Peter) Teel of Saraland, AL; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.
