Carolyn Cain

March 9, 1947 — May 15, 2018

CAIN
Mar. 9, 1947-May 15, 2018
Carolyn Houston Cain passed away surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, May 15, 2018. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She retired from Liberty National Life Insurance Company after 25 years of service. After leaving the insurance industry, Carolyn went back to school at the age of 47. She received her teaching certificate at the age of 50 and became a very influential English teacher at Theodore High School. She retired from Theodore after 15 years and touched many children's lives as a mentor and friend. She finished her teaching career at Little Flower Catholic School as an English teacher and left after 2 years. Carolyn loved her Catholic faith. As a member of Little Flower Catholic Church for many years, she served on numerous committees, including being a member of the Bereavement Committee in the last years of her life. One of her passions was to work with the Rape Crisis Center in Mobile and meet victims at hospitals around the Mobile area and comfort them as they were being attended to by hospital personnel and interviewed by the Mobile Police Department. She would get calls at all hours of the night and thought nothing of having to leave the house to spend time with those in need. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Tommy Cain; three sons, Jeff (Brooke) McGill, Chris McGill and Joey Cain; six sisters, Linda Lyons, Sandra (David) Wilson, Sharon (Gary) Estes, Janice Houston, Peggy Houston and Debbie McKenzie; grandchildren, Katy (Matt) Partridge, Amanda (Kellen) Bowers, Thomas Joseph Cain IV, Michael Ryan Cain, Devan Langley and Ashton Langley; other relatives and friends; and was blessed with one great-grandchild, Oscar Langley. A memorial mass will be celebrated Friday, May 18, 2018 at 11:00 AM from Little Flower Catholic Church. The family will receive friends Friday at the church from 10:00 AM until service time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Little Flower Catholic School. Condolences may be offered at www.mobilememorialfunerals.com.
