Carolyn Anne Odom Cherry, age 79, a native of Mobile, AL, died Saturday, June 1, 2019 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Anne is survived by her children, Laura Milbrath (Harry) of Irvington, AL; Tommy Cherry, Jr. (Michelle) of Mobile, AL; Tim Cherry (Wanda) Hermitage, TN; Lisa Frye (Steve) of Nashville, TN; and Leigh Ann Cherry of Mobile, AL; her sisters, Betty Odom Jacobson (Freddie) of Pace, FL and Barbara Lacey of Navarre Beach, FL; her much loved eight grandchildren, Todd Milbrath (Stephanie), Cory Milbrath, Amy Worley (Drew), Matthew Cherry (Tamara), Michael Cherry, Mitchell Cherry, Logan Frye and Bailey Frye; three great-grandchildren, Colby Milbrath, Abigaile Milbrath and Chance Worley; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Anne was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Thomas “Tom” Cherry, Sr.; her parents, William Hannis “Dick” Odom, Sr. and Ella Mae Reynolds Odom; and her siblings, Bill Odom, Don Odom and Sandra Barganier. She graduated from Murphy High School in 1957 and, the same year, met the love of her life, Tom. Through the years, they welcomed five children whom they cherished and, through it all, Anne stood by Tom’s side as he navigated through a wonderful career in music that ended up taking them to Nashville, TN in 1980. Anne spent many years as the Secretary to the Medical Director at Metropolitan Bordeaux Hospital, from which she retired in 2001. Tom and Anne returned to their hometown of Mobile, AL in 2003 to be closer to three of their children and many family and friends that remained constant throughout their lives. Above all else, Anne will be remembered for her love and devotion to her family and friends. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at 12:00 Noon from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening, June 4, 2019 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Wednesday morning from 11:00 AM until service time.
