Catherine "Kay" Reinhart Barnes, a resident of Mobile, AL, passed away peacefully, at home surrounded by her family and was embraced into our Lord's loving arms, on January 7th, 2024, at the age of 87, following a long battle with cancer.
Kay loved her Lord, and was a good and faithful servant. She loved working in her gardens and yard, crafting, and serving others; loved life, golf, and having fun. She was the definition of an excellent and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister. Her family was her pride and joy. She was a 1953 Murphy High School graduate and a member at Dauphin Way Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore "Ted" M. and Catherine T. Reinhart; brother, Theodore "Teddy" M. Reinhart, Jr.; son, Larry H. Green, and daughter-in-law, Marta Lucas.
She is survived by; her husband, Gene Barnes of Mobile, AL; daughters, Cathy (Steve) Griffiths of Orlando, FL, Sandi (Steve) Hamil of Stapleton, AL, Christa (Don) Goodrich of Humboldt, TN; sons, Billy Lucas of Wilmer, AL, Steve (Dottie) Green and Mike (Eileen) Green of Lafayette, LA; step-children, Ashley Barnes of Mobile, AL, and Patrick Barnes of Daphne, AL; daughter-in-law, Fran Green of Yankton, SD; sister, Anna Brock of Tupelo, MS; cousin, Jane Finkley of Birmingham, AL, 18 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren with 2 on the way; and many other loving relatives, including nieces and nephews; her lifelong friends, Janet Brown and Carolyn Bowman of Mobile, AL, and a host of other friends.
We are so grateful for the loving, compassionate, and devoted care from Sharon Cutrer and her sister, Von; and her hospice nurse, Vee Delelvalle, and the other caregivers from Synergy Healthcare Services.
Visitation will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 6040 Three Notch Rd, Mobile, AL. On January 12th, 2024 from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. followed by her Celebration of Life at 1 P.M. Burial will be at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery following the service.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or www.stjude.org in Kay's name.
