Charles Devon Dicks Sr.
Born March 21, 1935, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2022, with his wife by his side. A native of Butler, AL, moved to Mobile, AL. Went to Robert E Lee grammar school, Barton Academy, and graduated from Murphy High School in 1953. He went to work at a young age throwing newspapers for the Mobile Press-Register. He then joined the Marines. After the Marines, he was employed with Gulf Oil, Carpenter Local, Marin Builders, and Peyton Higgins. He and Robert J Baggett, Sr. started Robert J Baggett, Incorporated in August of 1976. Today it is a successful business.
Devon is preceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Robert Moody Dicks, his late wife of 44 years Beverly Baggett Dicks, his brother Richard Dicks. He is survived by his wife Julia Dicks of 19 years, his 3 children Chuck Dicks (Hope), Barry Dicks (Robin), Tracy Walsh (Jack). Stepchildren Jennifer Davis (Billy), Timothy Dahlem (Lisa), 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, 7 great step-grandchildren, and one brother Robert Dicks (Lequita). A special thanks to Charmon from Visiting Angels who was his caregiver and friend. In lieu of flowers, you may donate to the Wounded Warrior Project or charity of your choice. There will be a private family service at Mobile Memorial Gardens.
