Charles Foster

December 20, 1942 — June 4, 2021

Charles "Charlie" Edward Foster, Sr. born on December 20, 1942 in Mobile, Al; went to be with Jesus at the age of 78 at his home on Friday, June 4, 2021 in Mobile, Al.

He is preceded in death by his parents; James Clifton Foster and Mary Elbia Jaye Foster; his siblings, J.F. Foster, Willie James Foster, Bob Foster, Helen Foster, Betty Fleming, Carolyn Stokes, Marilyn Pierce and Ebbie Foster.

He was previously a resident of Theodore, Al, where he had and still has strong ties to the community. There he owned a local tire store known as Foster's Tire Service for over 13 years. After his tire store days, in 1994, Charlie Foster formed Respiratory Testing Services (RTS Inc). As a previous pipefitter in his earlier days, Charlie was compelled to help others that may have contracted the lung disease, asbestosis. He himself suffered from the disease. RTS traveled the country setting up testing mobile clinics to test others.

As owner of RTS, he employed many professionals in the respiratory industry. He pioneered the business by mobilizing these clinics to travel all across the U.S. providing free testing for local labor unions.

In 2001, he purchased a Theodore business named Mechanical Marine Contractors (MMC, Inc) that specialized in boiler and ship repair. For several years he simultaneously owned and operated both RTS and MMC.

After hanging his hat at the testing and fabricating businesses, he decided to form PFM Trucking, Inc. and acquired a local business called American Waste Solutions in Theodore, Al. Since June of 2006, the dba American Waste Solutions has been Charlie's final entrepreneurial venture. The company is still a dominant staple in the waste hauling industry for the county of Mobile. It is run by his children.

Foster was a faithful active member of First Baptist Tillman's Corner. He loved serving and leading many to Christ. He loved God, he loved people and he loved connecting the two.

He is survived by his wife of almost 45 years, Pamela McGee Foster, his children, Donna Lynette Foster (Buddy), Stacie Charla Foster Taylor (Chris), Charlie Brooke Foster Brazell (Chris), Jeremy Logan Richerson (Sarah), Charles "Chad" Edward Foster, Jr., his grandchildren, Caden Linn Taylor, Carolina Grace Taylor, Camden Foster Taylor, Cheri Claire Taylor, Luke Daniel Richerson, Anna Claire Richerson, Chrislie-Anne Foster Brazell.
