Charles Iven Edwards
Born in Chilton County AL to John Edwards and Ola Popwell Durbin Edwards, died on Monday. He attended Alabama Polytechnic Inst (Now Auburn) until early 1942 when he enlisted in the USMC serving in the 2nd Marine Division, Pacific Theater for the duration of WWII, including Tarawa Atoll. He worked for many years as a Broadcast Engineer and retired from WKRG-TV in Mobile. Survivors are his daughter Carol Edwards (Henry P Gheesling)of Columbia, SC; 2 Granddaughters affectionately known as "the girls" - Katherine "Kit" Crocker, (husband Chris) and Anna "Chrissie" Moore (husband Matt); 5 great grandchildren- Chase and Nathan Crocker, Elizabeth, Emily and Olivia Moore.
Predeceased by son Kenneth Dodge Edwards (1956-1997). Graveside service will be held in Mobile Memorial Gardens on Friday, October 21, 2016 at 10 am. Visitation at the funeral home is from 9 to 10 am. Condolences may be offered at www.mobilememorialfunerals.com.
