Charles Mack McKenzie, a native of Neely, MS, and longtime resident of Mobile, AL, died Sunday, January 15, 2023, at the age of 90. He served in the Navy during the Korean War, a First Baptist Tillmans Corner member for over 60 years, worked at Smith’s Bakery for 44 years before retiring, operated his own Pest Control business for several years, and enjoyed fishing and grilling outdoors. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Alsie Williams McKenzie, parents Charles Mack McKenzie and Lucy Bradly McKenzie; four sisters, Elizabeth Crager, Waudell Hinton, Lillian Hillman, Charlotte Hillman, and one brother. His survivors include two sons, Michael David (Nancy Ruth) McKenzie and Charles Matthew (Sonja Lynn) McKenzie; one daughter Sonya McKenzie Elmore; five grandchildren, Ashley (Cliff) Patrick, Joshua (Tim Maness) McKenzie, Jordan Elmore, Jacob Elmore, and Chase McKenzie; one great-granddaughter Addyson Patrick; other relatives and many friends. Funeral services officiated by Brother Mark Griffin will be held Friday, January 20, 2022, at 10:00 am from First Baptist Tillman’s Corner. The family will receive friends at the church Friday from 9:00 am until service time. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
