Charles "Charlie" Raymond Smith, 82, of Spanish Fort, Alabama, passed away on July 26, 2022.
Charlie was born in Mobile, Alabama, May 28, 1940, to Rosemond and Grace Smith and had one brother, James Smith (Barbara), all of whom have preceded him in death. Charlie graduated from Murphy High School in 1958 then served in the US Navy. He was married to Annie C. Smith for the past 36 years.
Charlie was a salesperson who worked for Goforth Media and Sears among others. He was an active member of Cottage Hill Baptist Church for most of his adult life, singing in the choir, working with the youth, and leading third grade Royal Ambassadors.
Charlie always had a ready smile and a willingness to chat. He loved to fish and teach others to fish; he was a maker and crafter who often created gifts for his family and friends; he liked to read his Bible, play games, complete puzzles, and share jokes.
He is survived by his three children Trixie Grace Long Smith (Megan); Raymond Earl Smith (Rebecca); Teresa Lynn Smith Haddan (Jeffrey); five grandchildren Tabitha Rainwater (Jake), Jeremy Anderson, Zachary Anderson (Avery), Gracie Haddan, Amberly Long Smith; and three great grandchildren Harper Mae Rainwater, Luna Anderson, Lewis Rainwater.
Visitation will be held Friday August 5, 2022, at Mobile Memorial Gardens from 10 am to 12 pm with services in the chapel at 12 noon. The family requests donations to Goforth Media or Cottage Hill Baptist Church in lieu of flowers.
