LOBSITZ

Clara LaVonne Lobsitz was born in Hennesey, Oklahoma, and died in Mobile, Alabama on Monday. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Hugh Lobsitz. Hugh and LaVonne moved to Mobile from Houston, Texas in 1983. Mrs. Lobsitz is survived by their only daughter, Mary Lynn Harbin, her husband, Terry Harbin and four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. After working as a secretary with Champion Oil Company in Pampa, Texas, and a public school secretary in Denver, Colorado she retired from the New Caney School District in Texas prior to moving to Mobile. LaVonne and her husband, Hugh, who worked for the Shell Oil Company lived in Ardmore, Oklahoma, Oklahoma City, Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, Billings, Montana, Denver, Colorado, Midland, Texas and lastly, Houston, Texas during Hugh's career. After moving to Mobile, LaVonne volunteered at Knollwood Hospital for 20 years and drove for Meals on Wheels delivering meals to many younger than herself. She and Hugh were members of Christ United Methodist Church for 32 years. Reverend Jeff Spiller officiated her graveside service at Mobile Memorial Gardens.
