Clarence "Pete" Ignatius Deardorff, Jr., a native of Harrisburg, PA and longtime resident of Semmes, AL, died Saturday, October 10, 2015 at the age of 85. Pete was a US Army Veteran; and an insurance sales agent for Washington National Life Ins. Co. for 33 years and Mutual of Omaha for 10 years, and worked in the commissary of the US Coast Guard Base for 19 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Ignatius Deardorff, Sr. and Edith Mertz, and his step-mother, Nellie Deardorff. His survivors include his wife and devoted companion, Betty Jean Gibson Ralston; his children, Judi Deardorff (Mike) Shuger, Donald Deardorff, Betty Ann (Ken) Hablitzel, Gwen (Donald) Vickers, Jeannie (Kenny) Nicholas, Jimmy (Kathy) Watson and Sandra Pritchett; two brothers, Ronald Deardorff and William (Cindy) Deardorff; two sisters, Margaret Ann (Ira) Moore and Priscilla "Pat" DeGroft; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 15, 2015 at 12:00 Noon from the Chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 10:00 AM until 12:00 Noon. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
