Claude William Amos, a native of Mt Vernon, IN and longtime resident of Mobile, AL passed away peacefully on February 15, 2018 at the age of 86. Claude was a Korean War Navy Veteran. He continued his Navy service in the Mobile Chapter of the Korean War Veterans Association 001 for more than two decades, appearing in local military events and other celebrations. Claude worked 42 years for the Alabama State Port Authority Terminal Railway, which launched is favorite hobby, model railroading and collecting. Claude was a dedicated and devout member of Cottage Hill Baptist Church. He was a member of The Joy Singers and an active member in the 55+ Senior Church Group. Many church friends will remember him for his gentle, humble demeanor. Claude proudly served on Sundays as one of Cottage Hill's "greeters" and he will be most fondly remembered for his sweet, caring spirit….and his uncanny ability to literally build or fix just about anything! Claude is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Frances Amos and his son Ralph B. (Marcia) Amos, his four grandchildren, Libby (Todd) LaCour, Byron, Todd, and Gil Amos, and his great grandchildren Lila and Margaux LaCour. Claude was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Pauline Amos and his brother Jack. "Pawpaw", as his grandchildren affectionately called him was a blessing to his entire family and a true example of good. He will truly be missed. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 18, 2018 beginning at 12:30, at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The Service will begin at 2:30 in the chapel. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens on Monday, February 19, 2018. Condolences may be offered at www.mobilefuneralservice.com.
