Rev. Clavis Eugene Akridge, age 88, native of Bayou La Batre, AL and resident of Mobile, AL, died Monday, July 10, 2017. Rev. Akridge was a US Navy Veteran of WW II and a retired Baptist minister, educator and principal. He was a graduate of Alba High School, Louisiana College and the University of South Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents, Colon Curtis Akridge and Frances Orwell Davis Akridge; his wife of 68 years, Margaret Elizabeth Partridge Akridge and his brother, Warren Akridge. His survivors include three daughters, Sharon Akridge, Beverly (David) Harding and Peggy (Pat) Dawson; one brother, Neil Thomas (Jerrie) Akridge, Sr.; four grandchildren, Nikki Harwell, Daniel Kyte, Joshua (Cathy) Harding and Matthew (Rachel) Harding; four great-grandchildren, Nathaniel, Alison, Bryant and Wendell; many other devoted family members and friends. Funeral services, officiated by Rev. David Akridge, will be held Friday, July 14, 2017 at 12:00 Noon from First Baptist Church of Bayou La Batre. The family will receive friends at the church Friday from 10:30 AM until service time. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Bayou La Batre, AL.
