Clayton Minhinnette

April 20, 1942 — March 31, 2020

Clayton Paul Minhinnette, age 77, a native and life-long resident of Mobile, AL, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2020.

Clayton was a proud member of the 1961 class of Murphy High School. He attended The University of Southern Mississippi until he returned to Mobile to marry the love of his life, Mary Llanelle Stewart Minhinnette. He went to work for Sears where he remained for 38 years. Clayton loved coaching for the Cottage Hill Rams, and he always loved seeing "his boys". Fishing and hunting brought him great joy and great friends. The love that he felt for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was apparent to all who knew him.

Clayton was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Leona Minhinnette, and also by Llanelle to whom he was married for 53 years.

His survivors include their children, Stephen Paul Minhinnette (and wife, Abby), Julie Minhinnette Pitts (and husband, Bobby Lee), James Stewart Minhinnette (and wife, LeAnne); grandchildren, Lauren Minhinnette Bryant (and husband, Matt), Stephen Hunter Minhinnette, Lauren Cherry , Mary Grace Pitts, Anna Katherine Pitts, Kyleanne Krimson Smith, Kelyn Sophia­ Louise Smith; great-grandchildren, Alleigh Elizabeth Cooper and Tucker Wade Bryant; other relatives and friends.

Due to the Covid 19 restrictions, the immediate family will have a private graveside service. A memorial celebration will be scheduled and announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama.
