Colleen Patricia "Pat" Callahan Dempster, a native and lifelong resident of Mobile, AL, passed Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at the age of 88. Pat served as Executive Secretary to Mobile County Sheriff Thomas J. Purvis for almost 20 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert Leon Callahan, Sr. and Fannie Belle Fisher Callahan; her husband, James Kerr Dempster; three sons, Adam, Keith and Kenny Dunnavant; and two brothers, Terry and Charlie Callahan. Her survivors include her canine companion, "Tip"; three daughters, Colleen (Ken) Newman, Jeanne (Johnny) Irving and Brenda (Jimbo) Allbritten; five sons, Bruce (Sharon) Dunnavant and Glenn Dunnavant, Van Ray Dempster and Richard (Teri) Dempster; four sisters, Madeline Martin, Margaret Ann (Donald) Athey, Mary Jane Emmick and Rose Callahan; two brothers, Herbert L. "Sonny" (Karen) Callahan and George (Betty) Callahan; 17 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 30, 2017 at 12:00 Noon from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 10:00 AM until service time. Interment will follow in Pine Crest Cemetery.
