Cooper Theo Cowart, a native of Laurel, MS, US Army Veteran and longtime resident of Semmes, AL, died Monday, January 23, 2017 at the age of 85. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Wesley Cowart and Sara Maude Blackwell Wilson; his wife, Mazel Lucille Finch Cowart; siblings, James Carl Cowart, Mary M. McCrory, Rebecca J. Holder, and Wilmer G. Jenkins; and his daughter, Lynn Denise Cowart Wright. His survivors include four daughters, Ann Cowart Robinson, Joyce Cowart Funderburk, Patricia "Pat" Cowart Norwood and Debra Cowart (Don) Spears; three sons, Cooper Dwight Cowart, Randy (Susan) Cowart and Dale Cowart; one sister, Ruth "Jo" Andrews; 32 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. Funeral services, officiated by Pastor Vernon Terrell, III, will be held Friday, January 27, 2017 at 12:00 Noon from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Music will be provided by Rebecca Ducote. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 10:00 AM until service time. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
