Rick was born in Mobile, AL on March 6, 1944 and passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at the age of 76. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Poiroux, and his mother, Kathleen Poiroux. His survivors include his wife of 56 years, Barbara; his brother and fishing partner, Billy; favorite sister, Sandy and her husband, Jimmy; two sons, Daniel, Jr. and his wife, Sandy, and John and his wife, Debbie; grandchildren, Jonah and his wife, Taylor, Jordan and her husband, Connor, and Wesley and Abby; great-grandchildren, Millie, Madeleine and Audie; other relatives and friends. Rick was a US Navy veteran and was retired from Xerox and the Mobile County Public School System. He was the creator of Limber Spinner Lures; was a lifelong avid fisherman and a parishioner of St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church. Rick, who was called “Pops” by his children and grandchildren, was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be greatly and sadly missed. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that memorial donations in Rick’s name be made to Catholic Social Services. Due to the pandemic at this time, private family services are being held for the immediate family. A memorial mass and celebration of Rick’s life will be scheduled and announced at a later date.
