ZIRLOTT
Daniel Joseph Zirlott, Jr., born March 3, 1947, died Thursday, April 26, 2018, after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Edith Zirlott and two brothers, Charles and Roy Zirlott (Yvonne). He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Linda Bryant Zirlott, his daughter, Melanie Zirlott Leege (Derek) and son Daniel Joseph (Joey) Zirlott III (Jennifer), his grandchildren, Gavin and Lauren Leege and Luke and Lily Zirlott, and one sister-in-law, Kathleen Zirlott.
Daniel graduated from Alba High School in his hometown of Bayou La Batre, AL. He then graduated from the Texas A&M Commonwealth School of Science. He was employed for many years by Radney Funeral Home. He went on to be an owner of several businesses including Bayou Auto Parts, Engine Machine Shop and Bayou Machine. He also owned and built numerous fishing vessels over the years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Bayou La Batre. He was a man with many great friends, and a man who had a deep love of family as a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was happiest surrounded by those he loved. He also greatly enjoyed racing, especially with his son. He had a quick wit and amazing sense of humor that will not be forgotten.
Services will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Saturday, April 28, 2018, with visitation for family beginning at 8:30. Public Visitation is from 9-10 with a service following at 10.
