Dannetta Mclean

October 17, 1929 — September 15, 2018

Dannetta Sirmon McLean a life-long resident of Mobile, entered her eternal heavenly home on Saturday, September 15, 2018, just one month before her 89th birthday, after a life well lived.

Friends will be received at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 18, 2018. A Homegoing Celebration Service will be held Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with interment at Mobile Memorial Gardens immediately following.

Dannetta was born in Mobile, Alabama on October 17, 1929, to Hattie and C. Dan Sirmon.

She graduated from Murphy High School in 1947, and later worked in the office of the Operating Engineers, Local 653. Once Dannetta had her first son, she became a devoted homemaker and mother. She served as a voting poll worker for over 50 years.

She was a member of Moffett Road Baptist Church for over 63 years where she faithfully served in many capacities over the years. She was the Sunday School clerk for 43 years, delivered the recorded Sunday sermon to shut-ins, volunteered in Training Union, and always helped whenever and wherever needed.

Ms. McLean is survived by her six sons, Danny McLean, David McLean, Gary (Lois) McLean, Joey (Janet) McLean, Mark McLean, and Scott (Janiece) McLean, one brother, Joe (Lois) Sirmon, one sister, Sylvia (Dean) Howland, 16 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews whom she all loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Claude J. McLean Jr., her sister, Betty Johnson, her beloved sister-in-law and best friend, Norma Mack, and her parents, Mobile City Fire Chief (ret.) C. Dan and Hattie Sirmon.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Matthew McLean, Jeff McLean, Todd McLean, Chris McLean, Kyle McLean, Austin McLean and Christopher McLean.
