David Eugene Hancock
Born February 25, 1938 in Lexington Mississippi passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at USAMC in Mobile, Al. He went to Vigor High School before joining the US Army for just a short time before transferring to the US Air Force and becoming an radio technician. After his service, he went to the University of Alabama, graduating with honors in 1967 as an Electrical Engineer. He became a private pilot and while working as an engineer before opening his own aircraft radio and electronic repair shop, Beacon Radio. He continued working as an engineer as a private contractor through Business Connections.
He was a member of Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society, Howard Masonic Lodge #69 Free & Accepted Masons for 60 years, and ABBA Temple Shriners driver's unit for the Children's Hospital. His hobbies included Reading, Flying and Traveling
He was preceded in death by: His parents, Will Cornelius Hancock and Lena Maude Bastin. His son: David Eugene Hancock, Jr.
He is survived by His wife. Brenda Frye Hancock; Daughters: Debra Lynn Hancock Taylor (David), Trish Lynn Thomasson, and Vicky Lynn Waldrop; Grandchildren: Jordan T. Lang (Steffen), Lauren T. Eisenmann, Jacob D. Taylor and Justin V. Taylor. Great Grandchildren: Elijah Lang and Ellie Lang. Brother: John C. Hancock, Sr.(Cappie). Nephews: John C. Jr., Nathan and Matthew Hancock. Many extended family members.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 19, 2022 at 10am from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will recieve friends from 9am until service time at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Clergy: Rev. Shaun Kaulfers and Rev. Jeff Spiller
Reception: Immediately following the services at Christ United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made in honor of David to the Shriners Drivers' Unit at ABBA Temple, Mobile, AL.
