Derian Joyce “Skeeter” McConnell Rowell, was born in Montgomery, AL on January 3, 1921 and passed away Thursday, May 23, 2019 at the age 98.  She was the widow of her husband of 54 years, Henry Wesley Rowell.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, Frank McConnell and Mary Lese McConnell; her siblings, Mary Ella “Mollie” McConnell Duke, “Dot” Oberon McConnell and Melvin S. McConnell; her grandson, Wesley Rowell and her daughter-in-law, Pamela Rowell.  Derian is survived by her children, Robert W. Rowell, Toby H. (Judy) Rowell, Francine R. Anderson (Gene, II) Welsh and Kerry L. (Yvonne) Rowell; 7 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.  Skeeter was a faithful, longtime member of Cottage Hill Baptist Church.  She entertained many with her hilarious tales of growing up in Prichard, AL and her delightful years at Murphy High School.  We are deeply saddened by her death, but so thankful that we know she has passed over from this life, to her eternal home with Jesus Christ our Savior.  Pallbearers will be Fr. Andrew Rowell, Dr. Robert “Bobby” Loudon, Anderson Loudon, Thomas Loudon, Canaan Nevin and Elijah Welsh.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at 12:00 Noon from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.  Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until service time.  Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.  Condolences may be offered at www.mobilememorialfunerals.com.
