Donald Clifford Wehner, a native of Middletown, NY and longtime resident of Mobile, AL passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2015. Mr. Wehner was graduated from the University of Bridgeport in 1951. He worked for American Cyanamid until he was drafted into the Army during the Korean War where he was assigned to biological warfare research. After his service, he returned to American Cyanamid and worked on numerous projects, including the development of a flu vaccine. He has several patents accredited to his name. Throughout Mr. Wehner's life, he participated in numerous organizations. He served as an Elder with the Presbyterian Church for 58 years. At Westminster Presbyterian Church he participated in the choir, served on various committees and served as Elder. He was a member of the Society of Science for Industrial Micro-Biology, Kiwanis, and the Mobile Genealogical Society. Mr. Wehner enjoyed an assortment of activities offered at Somerby of Mobile. Mr. Wehner was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford August Wehner and Clara Lavina Hoffman Wehner. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Marjorie Ann Brown Wehner; sons, Steven (Pam) Wehner and Pete Wehner, both of Mobile, AL, and Bill (Rhonda) Wehner of Rio Rancho, NM; sister, Marilyn (Ron) Slate of Sussex, NJ; 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. The visitation will be held Sunday, August 16, 2015 at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Interment will be held in Mobile Memorial Gardens Monday, August 17, 2015 at 10:00 AM. Following the interment, a Witness to the Resurrection service will be held from Westminster Presbyterian Church at 11:30 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions made be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2921 Airport Blvd., Mobile, AL 36606.
