Donna Ann Booker McCauley was born September 6, 1939 in Houston, TX. She passed away Friday, December 28, 2018 at the age of 79 in her hometown of Mobile, AL surrounded by family. Donna was a 1956 graduate of Murphy High School and graduated from Graceland College in Lamoni, Iowa with a teaching degree. She began her teaching career at Burroughs Elementary in Theodore, AL. She and her family moved to Mexico where she taught one year in the American School and moved back to Theodore, AL and to her permanent home at Nan Gray Davis Elementary where she taught first and second grades from 1969 until she retired in 1996 after over 30 years of service. She loved what she was most natural doing and that was teaching and loving every child with whom she came in contact. She also taught at Charter Southland and also added mental health worker to her resume. Among her love of teaching was also her love of traveling which she did for was long as she could. Most of all, she loved her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Lester Booker and Dora Addilean Powell Booker; her brother, Raymond Curtis Booker, and her son, Lawrence "Larry" R. McCauley. Her survivors include her daughter, Laura McCauley Briggs; two grandsons, Hunter Chandler Busch and Matthew Bailey Busch; two granddaughters, Alixandria McCauley and Ashley McCauley; two great-grandchildren, Bryson Chandler Busch and Olivia Grace McCauley; a host of other relatives and friends.Memorial services, officiated by Rev. George Farnell and Rev. Justice Manning, will be held Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at 12:00 Noon from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.
